Royal Ascot

Keeping with the theme of traditional English events, Royal Ascot takes place mid-June every year. This is a prestigious horse racing event that promises members of the British royal family and high society at their most elegant. From the morning dress of the Royal Enclosure to the iconic display of ladies’ hats, Royal Ascot promises a feast for the senses.

Royal Ascot is Britain’s most prestigious five-day horse racing.

Ascot Racecourse is a dual-purpose British racecourse, located in Ascot, Berkshire, England, about 25 miles west of London. Ascot is used for thoroughbred horse racing, and it hosts 13 of Britain’s 36 annual Flat Group 1 races and three Grade 1 Jumps races.

Ascot Racecourse is visited by approximately 600,000 people a year, accounting for 10% of all UK racegoers. The racecourse covers 179 acres (72 ha) leased from the Crown Estate, and enjoys close association with the British royal family. Ascot was founded in 1711 by Queen Anne and is about 6 miles (10 km) from Windsor Castle. As with royal tradition, the event is attended by the King and Queen Consort.

Royal Ascot is known for its elaborate hats, fascinators, and strict dress codes in the various enclosures (Royal Enclosure, Queen Anne, Village, and Windsor).

The Royal Enclosure is a private / member-only; the Queen Anne, Village, and Windsor enclosures are public areas with unique atmospheres. Each enclosure has a dress code, specifically for the Royal Enclosure where formal morning wear is required for men and specific guidelines apply to hats and dresses for women.

Gates opened at 10:30 am, the Royal Procession was at 2 pm.
This year the Royal Ascot event was held from 16th – 20th June.
